The 2017 Solar Eclipse Page
(Viewing a solar eclipse from Lime, Oregon)
Jim Sykes (the guy on the left) scouted out this location in Lime, Oregon a few weeks before the eclipse.
It's a roadside area the Oregon DOT had used to store materials while they were working on the highway.
Linda is guarding the equipment and waiting for the big event.
Me practicing pushing the button.
The camera body is a Canon 7D. The lens is a Canon 100-400 zoom. The tripod is an inexpensive Celestron alt-az.
The solar filter is some Thousand Oaks Optical, SolarLite Filter material taped on to the lens's sunshade.
First contact and the Excitement begins!
We have some sunspots too.
6 minutes later.
I had an egg timer that told me to shoot a picture every 6 minutes.
The rest of the pictures on this page will have been taken on that schedule.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later.
6 minutes later, the Cheshire Cat.
...and then totality.
The "Diamond Ring."
And out the other side.
6 minutes later.
